On Camera Production Guidelines
Here are a few reminders and tips if you are going to speak in
front of cameras.
As you probably know, our services at Calvary Chapel Melbourne are
streamed over the Internet and even broadcast on television—worldwide. People
are increasingly watching on their ROKU as well. Since this is the case, everything needs to
look its very best. This includes the
stage, equipment, and the people on the stage (worship team, speakers, actors).
One of the most important things to remember is the color of the
clothes you wear. The following
paragraphs are a basic guideline.
Solid colors in bright or bold shades from medium hue to dark are
best. Never wear black, white, cream,
very pale shades, or saturated red on camera. Avoid small checks, stripes or other small
patterns. Avoid clothing made from glittery fabric or with attached jewels. They reflect too much light. Granted, this does limit your clothing
choices, but it is important for us to not be a distraction visually,
especially to those whose only view of the church is through their TV or
computer screen. Below is a list of
colors and shades the camera loves.
One last tip on the subject of clothing—shirts should not be too
tight or too loose. There is a happy
medium. Layering can help with this
problem. If in doubt, bring another
shirt as a backup plan. In fact, it might not hurt to always have a back up shirt on hand. Clothing should also look fresh, not
wrinkled.
A tip in regards to the microphone: Be cautious about clapping with the
microphone in your hand. The microphone
can pick up the slightest tapping. Make sure that the wireless microphone
touching your cheek is not too close to your face. If it is touching your face
it will make noise when you move. Please make sure you tuck in your microphone
cables underneath your shirt as to hide the cable.
Many
thanks from the Production Team! God
Bless as we serve Him side-by-side.
